VENEZUELA,  IS AT THE TOP,

STRAIGHT THROUGH TO GUYANA,   WE DON’T HAVE TO STOP.

THE VERY NEXT COUNTRY,  IS SURINAME

AND THEN FRENCH GUYANA,  WHERE IT’S ALWAYS NICE AND WARM

THEN WE’RE IN BRAZIL,   WHERE IT’S HOT LIKE TOAST

Why is it called the Brazilian Woozy Dance?

Cause when you’re done twisting around you feel WOOZY!

THE NEXT LARGEST COUNTRY,  IS ARGENTINA,

WITH NARROW CHILE OH SO CLOSE,  NOTHING’S IN BETWEENA’

COMING BACK UP,  BOLIVIA IS NEXT,

THEN PASSING THROUGH PERU,   WAY OUT TO THE WEST

NOW LET’S EXPLORE,   EQUADOR,

AND THE MOUNTAINS OF COLUMBIA,  WITH THE COFFEE WE ADORE

NOW THAT YOU MENTION COFFEE,  IT MUST BE TIME FOR TEA

IN THE BRITISH FALKLAND ISLANDS,   ‘GADZOOKS’  WAIT FOR ME!

Talking:  Sugar?   Two lumps please. (knock, knock)    Thank you.

DAY AFTER DAY IN THE FOREST GREEN

ANIMALS AND PLANTS,  GIVE EACH OTHER WHAT THEY NEED

PLANTS GIVE THE ANIMALS FOOD TO EAT

ANIMALS HELP IN SPREADING SEEDS

Chorus:

LIKE THE EARTH NEEDS THE SUN AND THE EARTH NEEDS THE RAIN

THEY HELP EACH OTHER AGAIN AND AGAIN

AIR TO BREATHE,  WATER TO DRINK

THEY’RE LIKE YOU AND ME, AND  IT MAKES ME THINK                  HOW…

Chorus:

FROM THE FOREST FLOOR,  UP TO THE CANOPY

LAKE TITIKAKA (Gary Huntbatch)

Lake Titikaka Lake Titikaka

On the border of Peru and Bolivia

Lake Titikaka Lake Titikaka

On the border of Peru and Bolivia

The Incas believed that they were created

By a god named Viracocha who came out of the lake

He taught them how to grow their food……

………………………………………..How to build and live as one

Then he returned to the lake when his work was done

Copacabana peninsula boarders lake Titikaka

And has remains of many cultures from long ago

There are islands in the lake where worship was done

One dedicated to the moon another to the sun

There are also floating islands made of bullrushes

Natives use bulrushes to make their homes and rafts

This lake is high up in the mountains ……………

…………………………………………at 12 & a half thousand feet

And the scenery all around just can’t be beat

Lake Titikaka Lake Titikaka

On the border of Peru and Bolivia

Lake Titikaka Lake Titikaka

On the border of Peru and Bolivia

The Incas called Cuzco “the navel of the world” and the lake Titikaka “The womb of Mankind” , lakeside dwellers of today regard themselves as the “oldest people

RAIN FOREST SONG (Yurgen Ilaender)

IT’S EARLY MORNING IN THE RAIN FOREST

ALL THE ANIMALS ARE WAKING UP

THE PARROTS ARE SINGING IN A RAUCOUS CHORUS

HEAR THEM IN THE CANOPY UP ON TOP

THE MONKEYS JUMP FROM TREE TO TREE

SWINGING FROM THE BRANCHES HAPPILY

THE MONKEYS  SHOUT  WITH A WHOOP  AND A HOWL

TELLING ALL THE BIRDS THEY’RE MUCH TOO LOUD

Spoken:   THE MONKEYS ARE HOWLING AT THE PARROTS & THE TOUCANS

THE  PARROTS AND THE TOUCANS ALL SUDDENLY FLY INTO THE AIR

THEN THE RAIN BEGINS TO FALL.

IT’S  MID-AFTERNOON IN THE RAIN FOREST

SEE THE FLYING LIZARDS AND THE FLYING FROGS

THE FROGS ARE CROAKING IN A RAUCOUS CHORUS

THEY JUMP THROUGH  THE UNDERSTORY CHASING  ALL THE BUGS

A TREE FROG LAYS IT’S LITTLE EGGS

ON THE LEAVES OF A BROMELAID

A POISON DART FROG ,  BLUE NOT GREEN

HIDES ON THE        FOREST FLOOR,  BARELY SEEN

Spoken:          THE FROGS ARE CROAKING LOUDLY,   SUDDENLY THEY STOP

A HERD OF  AL PACAS COME GALLOPING PAST

THE RAIN CONTINUES TO FALL

IT’S LATE IN THE EVENING IN THE RAIN FOREST

ALL THE BATS ARE WAKING UP

THEY RUSTLE AND THEY FLUTTER IN A RAUCOUS CHORUS

WITH SOUND THEY FIND THE FOOD THEY HUNT

A BOA COILS AROUND A BRANCH

CONTENTEDLY FILLED WITH  IT’S PREY

AN ANACONDA SLITHERS DOWN

D7                   G7

TIME TO END ANOTHER DAY,.

Spoken:  The snakes are hissing a soft goodnight

The bats are flitting up through the leaves

The rain still falls. ,   And then.   — it stops.  All is silent

RAIN FOREST,   RAIN FOREST

PIECES OF A  PUZZLE ALL FIT PERFECTLY

RAIN FOREST,   RAIN FOREST,

GOODNIGHT TO THE ANIMALS,   GOODNIGHT TO THE TREES.

BUT I KNOW YOU’RE THERE IN THE TREES SOMEWHERE

HUMMINGBIRD,  HUMMINGBIRD,  TOO FAST FOR MY EYE

BUT I KNOW YOU’RE NEAR I CAN HEAR YOU FLY

YOU’RE A JEWEL IN THE SKY,

PRECIOUS AND PERFECT IN EVERY WAY

YOU’RE A JEWEL IN THE SKY

HOPE THAT I CAN SEE YOU TODAY.

HUMMINGBIRD, HUMMINGBIRD,  SO RARELY SEEN

YOU LAY EGGS THE SIZE OF A COFFEE BEAN

HUMMINGBIRD, HUMMINGBIRD,  TWO EGSS AT A TIME

IN YOUR NEST OF BARK AND SPIDER WEB TWINE

YOU CAN FLY FORWARDS, YOU CAN FLY BACKWARDS

SIDEWAYS AND EVEN UPSIDE DOWN.

YOUR WINGS DON’T BEND, THEY’RE RIGID AND STRAIGHT

TEN FEATHERS ON YOUR WINGS MAKE THE HUMMING SOUND.

YOU NEED TO FEED ALL THE TIME

NECTAR EVERYDAY FROM A THOUSAND FLOWERS

UP TO 1200 HEARTBEATS A MINUTE

INSECTS AND NECTAR GIVE YOU POWER.   (Humm….)

HUMMINGBIRD,  HUMMINGBIRD,  SO MANY SPECIES

IN COLUMBIA ALONE THERE’S ONE HUNDRED FORTY -THREE

HUMMINGBIRD,  HUMMINGBIRD,  SO SMALL ARE YOU

WITH THE LARGEST LIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS OF PERU

THE ANCIENT INCAS HONOURED YOU

THEY DREW YOUR IMAGE IN THE SAND TWO HUNDRED FEET WIDE

THE AZTEC INDIANS  BELIEVED IT TRUE

THAT THEY WOULD TURN INTO HUMMINGBIRDS WHEN THEY DIED

FLAPPING THEIR WINGS HAPPILY

ONE SAW THE JAGUAR  CLIMBING UP THE TREE

ONE PARROT FLEW AWAY,  AND THEN THERE WERE THREE

THREE BIG PARROTS PERCHED ON A TREE

FLAPPING THEIR WINGS HAPPILY

THE JAGUAR KEPT CREEPING

THROUGH THE UNDERSTORY TOO

ONE PARROT  FLEW AWAY, AND THEN THERE WERE TWO

TWO BIG PARROTS,  PERCHED ON A TREE

FLAPPING THEIR WINGS HAPPILY

THE JAGUAR REACHED THE CANOPY

UP CLOSE TO THE SUN

ONE PARROT  FLEW AWAY, AND THEN THERE WAS ONE

ONE BIG PARROT PERCHED ON A TREE

FLAPPING IT’S WINGS UP IN THE CANOPY

MACCHU PICCHU  (Gary Huntbatch)

High in the mountains of Peru

There’ a place I’m takin’ you to

Machu Picchu is   a    place to  see

The place to   see

It’s an ancient city this we know

Built by the Incas long ago

So high on the top of  a  mountain

Built of stone blocks that fit so tightly

Fit exactly  yes very precisely

That a   piece of   paper  wouldn’t fit   in  between

They built terraced gardens fed by springs

For growing corn and other things

And temples to the moon and to the sun

In which there was a  special place

Where they gazed into   outer space

At stars and planets when their days work  was done

High in the mountains of Peru

There’ a place I’m takin’ you to

Machu Picchu is   a    place to  see

The place to   see

The Incas were mysterious

They left no records to tell us

Who they were it really makes you thinka

Was paper in short supply

Were there no pens that they could buy

We only  know they had a    good suppl  y   of Inka

High in the mountains of Peru

There’ a place I’m takin’ you to

Machu Picchu is   a    place to  see

The place to   see ..……………Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu a    mysterious   place to   see
